Sean Ruffin
Advisory Board Member-Law
Sean P. Ruffin is a native of Stark County, Ohio. He grew up in Canton, Home of the Pro
Football Hall of Fame. He is a twenty-year legal professional with over a decade in the area of
criminal justice. A graduate of McKinley Senior High School, Miami University and The Ohio
State University, Sean has always possessed a passion for helping others.
Sean began his legal career defending Fortune 500 companies in workers’ compensation
claims and toxic tort claims. In addition, he represented many political subdivisions in
Northeastern Ohio.
However, in 2007, Sean died twice. Consequently, he knows from personal experience, the
grace of second chances. When he was able to return to the practice of law, he represented
individuals who might, by many, be considered the marginalized of our community. It was at that
time that the inequities in the justice system were reemphasized and impressed upon his mind.
His clients ranged from folks being divested of their parental rights and their liberty without not
so much of a mention of an effective safety net or structure of assistance.
Sean is using his second chance to help the voiceless, the disenfranchised, the forgotten,
downtrodden and thrown away have another chance at the life we all deserve to lead.
